Racing-proven, high-grade titanium is used to make this exhaust system, and the tailpipes are megaphone-shaped. The collector, located between the rear mufflers, was cast in the company’s in-house foundry; this collector optimizes and balances the flow of gases for an acoustically tuned sound without drone. Three mufflers – two in the rear section of the collector and one in the mid-pipe – further tune the sound to create a sporty racing tone, fully enhancing the engine’s performance with a deep and energetic sound to give occupants a feeling of exhilaration that is never interrupted by unwanted noise. The engineers paid special attention to the acoustics in the mid- and high-rpm range, with a high-frequency tone at the higher revs and plenty of sound at idle and low revs. This sound is regulated by two megaphone-shaped titanium tailpipes, which are welded to the exhaust pipe and feature a special coating that prevents discoloration at high temperatures. The shape of the tailpipes influences the sound. Developed to reduce backpressure and provide a power increase of 3.5 kW (4.8 hp) at 6,950 rpm and 4.9 Nm of torque at 6,950 rpm when tested on the Akrapovič dyno against a Toyota GR Yaris with a stock standard exhaust. This exhaust is intended for race track and closed course use only. The product is a bolt-on fitment and no ECU re-mapping is required for this configuration.
For customers who want to further tune their Akrapovič Slip-On Race Line exhaust system, an optional Evolution link pipe is available.
