Keep Oil Out of Your N54 BMW Air Intake System It’s no secret that N54 BMW turbo motors suffer from oil control issues. Excess oil can blow through the system, coating the intercooler and charge piping, fouling intake valves and the VANOS system, lowering effective octane, and degrading overall performance. The higher the boost level, the more pronounced these problems become. The solution is the BMS N54 Oil Catch Can. Many competing catch cans fall short due to poor mounting locations, restrictive internal designs, undersized hoses, or vented PCV systems that release crankcase vapors into the atmosphere. Others are simply repurposed designs intended for lower-output engines. To solve these issues, BMS designed this oil catch can system from the ground up specifically for turbocharged BMW applications. It features 100% CNC-machined construction with zero welding for a precise fit and long service life. Oversized hoses maintain factory-plus flow throughout the entire system to prevent crankcase pressure buildup, while retaining full closed-loop OEM PCV operation. The mounting location minimizes hose length, improves condensation efficiency, and maintains a clean, stealth appearance. Installation takes approximately 20 minutes, includes all required hardware, and is fully reversible. Oil can be drained via the threaded base or optional drain plug during routine oil changes.
