CSF can use thinner, lighter aluminum material (with greater cooling efficiency) because this design is actually stronger than conventional seam-welded O-shaped tubes. The design (inlet opening in the middle of the tube, seam-soldered) increases the surface area of the tubes' heat exchange by approximately 15% compared to conventional tubes – the efficiency of two smaller tubes compared to one larger tube within the same space criteria. With B-shaped tubes, "dual-row laminar flow" can be achieved. CSF also utilizes highly efficient fin stocks that are carefully and precisely aligned to maximize airflow through the radiator core. Fin characteristics are carefully measured and calculated for each application and tested for maximum heat dissipation efficiency in a wind tunnel laboratory.
