CSF
When CSF began developing an Audi radiator, the initial goal was the legendary Audi Quattro. Well-known for its prowess and racing pedigree, it seemed like the obvious choice for our first 5-cylinder radiator. However, it took considerable digging to realize that the radiator for the Quattro was very similar to the radiators for other classic 5-cylinder Audi models of that era. With this in mind, the CSF engineering team immediately began work on a model that would fit a wider range of platforms.
CSF reached out to iABED Industries for their extensive knowledge and experience with older Volkswagen and Audi vehicles. The result of this collaborative effort is a modular design that can be configured to fit a wide variety of vehicles. The CSF #7208 can be configured for use with or without an auxiliary radiator. The multitude of fan shroud mounting points allows for the use of factory fans from any application without modification. The top of the tank features multiple overflow tube connection points for a factory configuration on any equipment. Additionally, CSF has developed a reinforced core with reinforcing bands for added strength and rigidity. This feature is especially important given the vertical configuration and orientation.
CSF vs. OEM & Aftermarket
The original Audi radiator was manufactured from copper and brass using a brazed construction. While generally considered high quality and durable, heat exchanger technology has significantly advanced in the decades since these vehicles were released. It is obvious that older turbocharged vehicles require the best cooling systems, but naturally aspirated engines also benefit from improved cooling efficiency. Anyone who has restored/modified a classic vehicle knows the value of having upgraded parts that are as efficient as possible.
The CSF radiator features a 2-row, 42mm, all-aluminum core that not only increases the coolant capacity of the radiator but also improves the core's ability to dissipate heat. CSF's exclusive B-Tube technology increases heat transfer by approximately 15% compared to standard oval welded tubes. Furthermore, the super-efficient multi-louvered fins maximize airflow through the core for optimal performance. CSF's slim, high-performance core allows the radiator to fit in the factory location with the original air ducts and requires no modifications or cutting. In contrast, other aftermarket aluminum radiators utilize a bulky 3-row core that requires modifications and cutting for installation.
The 100% TIG-Welded aluminum construction increases the overall strength of the radiator. This enhances durability and longevity, so you can be confident it will withstand strenuous driving conditions. Additionally, the satin black finish provides a clean, OEM+ appearance.
