CSF
Although the BMW E46 M3 and BMW E39 M5 are equipped with a factory oil cooler, it was clearly not designed for high-performance driving. Just a few minutes on the track quickly reveal how inadequate the factory cooler is. Dangerously high oil temperatures can lead to severe engine damage, and this must be addressed. CSF and Rogue Engineering have joined forces to create an oil cooler capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of track use, while remaining simple and straightforward to install. The new oil cooler is 2x larger than the factory unit, with a volume of 243 cubic inches (compared to the factory's 103 cubic inches). This allows for stable temperatures on the hottest days when the engine is pushed to its limits. The CSF x Rogue oil cooler utilizes a Bar and Plate construction in an upper/lower configuration. The Bar and Plate design makes the cooler significantly more robust and capable of withstanding impacts from stones that may be thrown at it at high speeds on the road or track. The cooler uses extruded end tanks, meaning this construction is far stronger than the simple bent aluminum sheet construction found in stock units. The cooler mounts to the factory radiator or CSF's high-performance radiators (E46 M3 - CSF #7058 / E39 M5 - #7064) and utilizes the factory oil cooler lines.
