CSF
CSF has developed and engineered an intercooler for the Porsche 992 Carrera. Utilizing all factory mounting points, installation is straightforward and requires no modifications. The most significant feature of the CSF by PWR 992 Carrera intercooler system is the use of Formula-1 grade intercooler cores. CSF's strategic relationship with PWR has allowed for the inclusion of these cores, which are unlike any others available in the aftermarket. These cores are the same style as those in CSF's other air-to-air systems previously developed for the 992 Turbo/S and 991 GT2RS, which have shown incredible results. PWR cores eliminate heat soak and reduce intake air temperatures (IATs) far more efficiently than traditional Bar and Plate or Tube and Fin designs. Traditional intercooler cores are typically much heavier and larger to improve cooling capacity. Because the PWR core achieves greater results in a smaller package, CSF was able to design the intercooler system to fit in the OEM location using all OEM hardware, ducting, and shrouds for an easy installation.
Like most turbocharged vehicles, the 3.0L twin-turbocharged engine in the Porsche 992 suffers from high levels of heat soak and progressively increasing IATs even under moderately aggressive driving conditions. This causes the ECU to pull engine timing and reduce power output. CSF intercoolers solve this problem, allowing the vehicle to perform at its optimal level consistently and for extended periods of time. Like other CSF products released under our partnership with PWR, the new 992 intercoolers feature 100% TIG-welded aluminum tanks. This is a very significant upgrade over the OEM plastic composite tanks. OEM plastic/composite end tanks are known to crack under high boost pressure. The CNC-machined billet end tanks are built to withstand the increased boost pressure from more aggressive tuning and upgraded turbochargers.
