Disclaimer:
During CSF’s quality control and testing process, CSF pressure tests every #8300 manifold at 60-70 PSI for 2-3 minutes. The CSF manifold is not designed to operate at pressures above 60 PSI. Any user who chooses to operate their vehicle with the CSF manifold at pressures exceeding 60 PSI does so at their own risk. Operating at these pressure levels will void CSF’s limited 2-year warranty.
Applications:
*B58 Engine Only (Gen 1 - B58B30M0 & B58M30O0). Some model years equipped with this engine vary by region
OEM Part Number:
- BMW: 11-61-8-603-913
Included Top Feed Fuel Rail System
The CSF manifold comes with an extruded fuel rail that can be mounted on the discharge side of the manifold. The AN-8 fuel rail comes with Radium Engineering -8 fittings for a plug and play installation.
Custom Nitrous / Methanol Ports
A 1/8 NPT port on each cylinder can be utilized for nitrous or methanol injection. The CSF manifold provides maximum spray pattern control and even distribution throughout the engine.
Vacuum & Sensor Block
CSF has included 3 ports on the inlet side of the manifold. These ports can be used for auxiliary sensor measurements or as an additional vacuum source. The three 1/8″ NPT ports can be plugged using the included hardware if not in use.
Easy Oil Filter Access With Balanced Design
CSF has provided a recess in the rear of the manifold for easy access to the oil filter. This means you will not have to remove the manifold every time you wish to perform an oil change. While this design feature is not unique to CSF manifolds, CSF is the only company that has addressed the airflow issues that such a recess can create. CSF engineers designed and tested a balanced protrusion using SolidWorks CFD. This protrusion sits above the recess and compensates for airflow tabulation. This feature ensures a smooth air delivery to the rear of the core for optimal cooling.
Air Divider Inlet
Another exclusive feature of the CSF manifold is the air divider welded into the inlet tank of the manifold. Given the length of the manifold, VF Engineering engineers wanted to ensure that the volume and velocity of air delivery to all cylinders were equal. After extensive modeling in SolidWorks CFD, an air divider was added to the design to ensure the best and most equal cooling to each cylinder of the engine. For optimal performance, the airflow at the rear of the manifold (cylinders 4, 5, and 6) needs to equal the airflow at the front of the manifold (cylinders 1, 2, and 3).
Water Tank Inlet/Outlet Vents
Two 1/8″ NPT ports are located at the top of the rear water tank. These ports can be used for inlet and outlet water temperature measurements, as well as vents for easy bleeding procedures. 1/8″ NPT plugs are included. Please follow the BMW or Toyota system air removal procedure, which takes approximately 15 minutes.
KIYLEX Thermal Rejection Gasket
Made from KIYLEX®, a patented, revolutionary, next-generation high-performance polymer. KIYLEX® is as strong as aluminum and can withstand temperatures up to 1100°F. This gasket is designed to insulate the intake manifold from conductive heat transfer from the cylinder head. This thermal barrier reduces manifold temperatures, which helps lower Intake Air Temperatures (IAT), increase intercooler efficiency, and combat heat soak. CSF is the exclusive distributor of KIYLEX® intake manifold gaskets for the B58 engine.
The addition of a thermal rejection gasket is particularly beneficial for drag racing applications where cars typically sit between rounds. This causes the air-to-liquid manifold to heat soak as airflow is not passing through the front-mount intercooler (responsible for cooling the charge air liquid passing through the manifold) while the car is idling. This results in higher initial IATs on subsequent passes than on the first pass.
The CSF manifold is constructed from Billet Aluminum and is 100% TIG welded for strength, allowing it to withstand higher boost pressures compared to the OEM plastic manifold. Aluminum has higher thermal conductivity than plastic, resulting in increased heat exchange rates between the cylinder head and the manifold. The addition of a thermal rejection gasket reduces heat transfer between the two metal components (cylinder head and manifold). The gasket absorbs heat from the cylinder head and dissipates it rather than transferring it to the manifold.
The CSF Thermal Rejection Competition Spacer gasket was designed for dedicated motorsport vehicles requiring the ultimate cooling efficiency for a competitive edge. However, any vehicle will benefit significantly from the installation of this spacer.
Hardware Kit, Thoughtful Instruction Manual
Multiple brackets, bolts, washers, and fittings are included for installation. This is an exclusive CSF x VF Engineering design feature that was incredibly difficult to not only engineer but also manufacture. Numerous items come vacuum-sealed with corresponding letters noted on an easy-to-use Bill of Materials (BOM), along with component-by-component diagrams and a simple step-by-step order of operations to follow during installation. Built with the mechanic, technician, racer, and DIY enthusiast in mind.
Rear Bleeder Vents and Overflow Tank Fitting
CSF has added a new swivel fitting -6 ORB 90 with clockwise adjustment. This gives the installer more flexibility in routing the overflow return line. The line can still be routed directly to the factory overflow tank as in the stock configuration. This new fitting also allows for the return line to be hidden, providing a clean and tidy return route to the factory overflow tank located at the front of the engine bay. A 40-inch overflow line hose is included and can be cut to length depending on preferences during plumbing. CSF has also sourced and included a quick-connect fitting for the factory overflow tank. This makes the connection to the overflow tank more secure. The fitting comes pre-installed on the return line, making installation simpler and faster.
Manifold Mounting
Mounting the manifold in the engine bay is fairly straightforward. However, there can be an issue with getting the bolt holes on the mounting bosses on the intake manifold side to line up perfectly. After several test fits, CSF decided that this issue could be resolved by slotting the mounting bosses. This allows for the bolts to be installed prior to final positioning and makes for a slightly easier install.
