CSF
The new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator is CSF’s largest and most efficient cooler ever produced. It features a massive 705 × 448 mm (27.75 × 17.5 inch) core that is 68 mm thick. The 68 mm thick core is 24% thicker than the closest competitor’s 55 mm core. This translates to higher heat dissipation and greater thermal capacity than any other radiator on the market.
CSF’s exclusive B-Tube technology increases heat dissipation by approximately 15% compared to standard oval welded tubes. 44 rows of high-efficiency, multi-louvered 8 mm fins maximize airflow through the core for ultimate performance.
In terms of efficiency, the dual-pass core offers a superior balance between optimal cooling and backpressure. With an increased coolant path length, the coolant spends more time in the radiator, allowing more heat to be dissipated. While a triple-pass design can offer even greater efficiency in this regard, it also creates more resistance and consequently, more pressure drop. Depending on your setup, this may not be the ideal solution. The dual-pass design provides a good balance between maximum cooling efficiency and coolant pressure regulation.
Another advantage of the dual-pass design is that both inlet and outlet ports are located on the same side of the radiator. This configuration greatly simplifies the installation of an external or rear-mounted radiator. Designers can run the inlet and outlet lines together, making fabrication easier and reducing the overall length of the cooling system’s plumbing. The fans can also be rotated into 4 different positions for easier harness routing.
To provide customers with more flexibility, CSF has utilized -20AN ORB ports compatible with both -20AN and -16AN fittings. The larger -20AN fittings and lines offer a higher burst pressure rating and greater flow capacity. The inlet/outlet tank also features two pre-capped 12AN (1-1/16″-12) ORB ports. These two ports can be used for sensor installation, bleeding the cooling system, connecting an expansion tank, and more. Each port/fitting is positioned above or below the inlet and outlet fittings.
CSF designed the Motorsport Radiator to provide manufacturers and builders with a wide range of mounting options. As this radiator can be mounted in various positions and orientations depending on the application, engineers wanted to provide mounting points for any type of configuration. Each tank features four M8x1.25 mounting bungs: one on the top and bottom of each tank, and two on the sides. This allows the radiator to be bolted to any load-bearing frame or cradle, regardless of how or where it is installed.
SPAL Brushless Fans (CSF #8374). The shroud is constructed from laser-cut, TIG-welded aluminum and can be mounted to either side of the radiator. It utilizes two 14-inch (355 mm) SPAL ABL505P 12V Brushless Puller Fans (SPAL 30107102). Each fan is capable of moving 2395 CFM (4060 m³/hr) of air, for a combined total of 4790 CFM (8120 m³/hr). The shroud and fan module were primarily designed with drifting in mind. Due to the lack of oncoming airflow during sideways motion, the cooling system is put under immense stress. These fans, combined with the precisely fabricated shroud, provide ample airflow through the radiator even under the most demanding conditions. This module is also well-suited for high-powered rock crawlers with minimal airflow, as well as trophy trucks where radiators often become clogged with sand.
Most aftermarket fan kits do not include pigtail harnesses, leaving customers to source their own or re-wire factory connectors. This works when replacing factory cooling fans, but in custom race configurations, this approach isn’t always feasible, especially if the radiator is not mounted in the factory location. CSF includes pigtail harnesses (SPAL SBL-YAZ-PT10) with the #8374 to simplify the wiring process as much as possible. These harnesses feature plug-and-play connectors compatible with the SPAL fans (P/N 30107102). The heavy-gauge wiring allows sufficient power to be delivered to the fans and simplifies installation and system setup. These are details that builders often overlook, but CSF went the extra mile to make installation as straightforward as possible.
