The new Motorsport Dual-Pass Radiator is the largest and most efficient cooler CSF has ever produced. It features a massive 705 × 448 mm (27.75 × 17.5 inch) core that is 68 mm thick. The 68 mm thick core is 24% thicker than the closest competitor utilizing a 55 mm core. This translates to higher heat dissipation and greater thermal capacity than any other radiator on the market.
CSF’s exclusive B-Tube technology increases heat dissipation by approximately 15% over standard oval welded tubes. 44 rows of ultra-high performance 8 mm multi-louvred fins maximize airflow through the core for ultimate performance.
In terms of efficiency, the dual-pass core provides an excellent balance between optimal cooling and backpressure. With the increased coolant path length, the coolant spends more time in the radiator, allowing more heat to be dissipated. While a triple-pass design could offer even greater efficiency in this regard, it also creates more resistance and consequently, more pressure drop. Depending on your setup, this may not be ideal. The dual-pass design offers a good balance between maximum cooling efficiency and coolant pressure regulation.
Another benefit of the dual-pass design is that both fittings are located on the same side of the radiator. This configuration greatly simplifies the installation of an external or rear-mounted radiator. Designers can run the inlet and outlet lines together, making fabrication easier and allowing for a shorter overall coolant line length. Fans can also be rotated into 4 different positions for easier wiring routing.
To provide customers with more flexibility, CSF has utilized -20AN ORB ports that are compatible with both -20AN and -16AN fittings. The larger -20AN fittings and lines provide a higher burst pressure rating and greater flow capacity. Two pre-capped 12AN (1-1/16″-12) ORB ports are also provided on the inlet/outlet tank. These two ports can be used for sensor installations, coolant system bleeding, expansion tank connections, and more. Each port/fitting is located above or below the inlet and outlet fittings.
CSF designed the Motorsport Radiator to provide manufacturers and builders with a wide range of mounting options. As this radiator can be installed in various positions and orientations depending on the application, engineers have included mounting points for any type of configuration. Each tank features four M8x1.25 mounting bungs: one on the top and bottom of each tank, and two on the sides. This allows the radiator to be bolted to any load-bearing frame or cradle, regardless of how or where it is installed.
