Background
The efficiency of a turbocharged engine is directly affected by the intake air temperature (IAT) and restrictions in the intake system. A crucial aspect—often overlooked—is ensuring sufficient airflow to the compressor to reduce the risk of surge. Lower restriction (less vacuum) and colder air allow the turbo to move a larger mass of air, which means more air to the engine—and thus noticeable power gains. There are real power benefits to be had with a well-designed intake system.
Through many years in the industry, and countless hours of evaluation and development, we have repeatedly seen the clear connection between IAT, sufficient airflow to the compressor, and the impact this has on the engine's power output.
The kit is available in two versions, depending on turbo application:
- OE-TURBO: Supplied with CNC-machined hose adapters that fit original turbos.
- HYBRIDTURBO: Supplied with CNC-machined hose adapters that fit most hybrid turbos on the market (the adapters have an inner diameter of Ø48 mm).
do88 Turbo Intake System
We started the development by 3D scanning the entire intended area in the car. This allowed us to work efficiently in our SolidWorks CAD environment. The entire system is optimized for airflow—radii, angles, and transitions have been reworked many times to achieve the best possible results.
The finished product is verified with both CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and our SuperFlow SF1020 flow bench. All work has been done to offer real and reliable data for you as a customer.
