Background

We are very pleased to launch a range of products for Saab 9-5, Opel Insignia, and Buick Regal in 2022. We began our development by 3D scanning the entire available space in the car to rationally work with the products in a CAD environment. The entire system is flow-optimized; radii and angles have been reworked in several iterations to achieve the best results! The finished product is CFD-verified and, of course, flow-verified in our own Superflow SF-1020 flow bench, so that you, as a customer, know what you are buying. It comes with CNC-machined connections according to the original design. This allows for the reuse of the car's original hoses, which are generously sized from the start. For this intercooler, you can also choose our piping kits (see separate product), and these include an adapter for the aforementioned quick-release coupling to create a standard hose connection.

The finished product

This charge air cooler is designed for the best cooling capacity under demanding conditions. Made entirely of aluminum with full-seam welds, it guarantees durability and endurance when it truly matters. The increased core volume improves cooling capacity and lowers the engine's inlet temperature. As this is a do88 performance product, we have, of course, conducted thorough tests during the development phase to achieve the best performance. The end tanks are cast to ensure optimal airflow and come with machined mounting points for the AC condenser and water cooler. This intercooler is space-optimized as much as possible for installation in the original location.

Considerations

A full 81% larger core volume is a difference we are proud to have achieved. It's something that truly makes a difference. The engine pulls significantly better across the entire rev range and can withstand repeated accelerations without building up heat. The notion that the charge air cooler doesn't need to be replaced until a high tuning level is reached is incorrect, yet widely spread. On warm summer days, with repeated pulls, spirited driving, or generally in a warmer climate, it doesn't take much for the engine to start generating dangerously high inlet temperatures, even in a completely untuned car. The cooling capacity of the original intercooler is often clearly inadequate, and this negatively affects the engine and its power. Heat must be dissipated, otherwise the promised power will drastically decrease as soon as you start accelerating. In addition to this, there is also increased airflow with less pressure drop. More oxygen to the engine means more power – bingo!
