Background

The S58 engine in the 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models features an engine oil cooler mounted horizontally beneath the large radiator package at the front. The original oil cooler has a Tube & Finn core, which is delicate and can easily be damaged by, for example, stone chips. Due to its design and placement, it is not uncommon for the oil cooler to be damaged and start leaking due to stone chips or other debris. An oil leak can quickly cause severe engine damage. With our do88 engine oil cooler, we offer a much more durable design and, of course, simultaneously improved cooling performance!

Our Solution

To meticulously design our oil cooler, we performed a detailed 3D scan of the engine oil cooler area in the car. This 3D scan provided us with a detailed space to design a new, high-performance engine oil cooler. We replaced the original Tube & Finn core with a more durable Bar & Plate core combined with TIG-welded aluminum end tanks. Our upgraded do88 engine oil cooler helps your M2, M3, or M4 maintain correct oil temperatures whether on the track or the road. Our oil cooler increases both the active cooling area (+14%) and the core volume (+57%) compared to the original. The robust Bar & Plate core will withstand road debris and stone chips much better while simultaneously improving cooling performance.
