Background

The 2021+ BMW G8X M2/M3/M4 models equipped with an automatic transmission feature the ZF 8HP gearbox, which is both strong and fast. It is designed to handle the high power output of the S58 engine; however, a tuned engine can overload the original cooling system, especially during track driving. If the gearbox overheats, it can lead to slower shifts and the risk of gearbox damage. To address the temperature issue, do88 has developed an upgraded transmission cooler to help maintain temperatures at a correct level.

Our Solution

The do88 Transmission Cooler significantly improves cooling efficiency. Our engineers designed a new core for the cooler, increasing the core volume by a full 71% and the active cooling area by an impressive 50% while maintaining an equivalent pressure drop. We upgraded the tubes to harmonic tubes which have internal channels, providing optimal cooling efficiency. It also increases the system's cooling capacity by a 42% (8.5 dl vs 6 dl) increase in fluid volume. The do88 cooler uses a Dual-pass design, meaning the oil passes through the core twice, ensuring more heat is dissipated.
