The Girodisc brake system is designed as a direct replacement for the factory rotor, requiring no modifications. The rotor installs directly onto the vehicle and is compatible with factory calipers, maintaining the original brake bias and ABS functionality. It offers a lightweight, high-performance alternative to big brake kits, reducing unsprung mass and improving braking response.

The center hat is precision machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum, and the friction ring is cast from Girodisc's proprietary iron alloy, fully machined in the USA. Internal curved vanes create centrifugal airflow, enhancing cooling and resistance to fade during aggressive braking.

The floating mount system utilizes 8 or 10 cadmium-plated, high-strength steel drive pins that handle braking loads and allow for axial and radial float between the hat and rotor. These are secured with grade 12 strength bolts and hardened washers. Anti-rattle spring clips are used to eliminate noise, allowing for thermal expansion and quiet operation. Only the iron friction ring needs to be replaced during service.
