This set of titanium backing plates consists of 4 plates that help prevent brake fluid from boiling. Titanium, as a material, has low thermal conductivity. This means it transfers heat very poorly. When a thin titanium plate is placed between the back of the pad and the pistons, heat from the braking system is not transferred to the pistons and fluid. For vehicles that undergo multi-day, intense driving, these shims are good protection against pedal fade caused by brake fluid boiling.
