Iron rotors replace factory carbon-ceramic rotors without any modifications. It is strongly recommended to replace the brake pads simultaneously with a material designed to work with iron rotors.

The center hat of the rotor is machined from strictly American-made 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum. The rotor is made from proprietary cast iron, cast in the USA and machined from start to finish at the Girodisc facility. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, race-developed to act as a centrifugal pump, driving cool air through the rotor.

The rotor and hat have a floating mount system utilizing 12 high-strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to proprietary specifications and cadmium plated for long-lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the braking load while maintaining axial and radial float between the hat and the rotor. The pins are secured with grade 12.9 socket head cap screws with hardened washers. To prevent rotor noise when cold, anti-squeal spring washers are installed on the pins on the rotor side, allowing the rotor to grow with thermal expansion but eliminating the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This floating design also allows the rotor to self-center between the brake pads.

If your vehicle is equipped with blue calipers, a different rotor size is required.
