Background

THESE ARE COMPLETE PACKAGES FOR THE CHARGE AIR COOLING SYSTEM WITH DROP-IN FITMENT!

The BMW M2C / M3 / M4 F8X features a twin-turbo engine (S55) that utilizes a top-mounted water-cooled intercooler instead of a "conventional" air-cooled intercooler. The original intercooler has a Tube & Fin core with plastic end tanks that are crimped on. This design has its drawbacks as it is prone to cracking and leaking coolant into the engine's intake or leaking boost pressure from the seal between the plastic tanks and the core. The coolant in this system has its own separate cooling circuit consisting of two parallel-connected water radiators and a pump. The larger of these two radiators is positioned at the front of the main cooling package in the center of the front, while the other smaller radiator is located in front of the right wheel arch. These cars have plastic charge pipes both before and after the intercooler. These pipes are a weak link on a tuned car, and in some cases even on an original car, as they can crack and start to leak. We have developed upgrade parts for all these areas through advanced 3D scanning and 3D design within the scanned space. We have conducted extensive CFD simulations on most parts, as well as numerous tests, to ensure we deliver the best performance upgrade!

Configurations

YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN THREE DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS FOR THIS PRODUCT:

  • 1. Intercooler and both intercooler pipe kits
  • 2. Intercooler and both radiators for the intercooler system
  • 3. Intercooler, both intercooler pipe kits, and both radiators for the intercooler system

Our performance intercooler allows the engine to produce more power, both by lowering the intake temperature and reducing pressure drop! It features a bar and plate core with 3D freeform designed end tanks that are TIG welded to the core. It has a core volume that is 85% larger than the original intercooler and outperforms it in both airflow and cooling efficiency. 16% higher flow and 9°C lower intake temperature, so with both better flow and lower intake temperature, this is a true upgrade!

Our water radiators for the charge air cooling system lower the water temperature in this system. This results in lower intake temperatures, which in turn provides more power and more consistent performance. We have achieved this by increasing the frontal area, increasing the thickness of the cores, and using well-specified cores with multi-channel tubes!

Our intercooler pipes, both those running from the turbochargers to the intercooler and the one running from the intercooler to the throttle body, are designed for increased operational reliability while simultaneously improving flow. It's not entirely simple to improve both durability and flow, as the original pipes already flow well. With our knowledge and equipment to perform both software simulations during design and verify flow in physical parts, we are confident that we are making improvements, which is more than most suppliers of this type of pipe can say!
